Rangers rookie Langford (hamstring) going on IL

Texas Rangers rookie outfielder Wyatt Langford is expected to miss three to four weeks after suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain, manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Sunday.

Langford left Saturday night’s game after struggling to run to first base, and an MRI revealed the extent of the injury. He will be placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, Bochy said.

Bochy also told reporters that Nathan Eovaldi is set to visit a specialist in New York for evaluation on the right groin strain that landed the right-hander on the 15-day injured list Friday.

Langford, 22, is hitting .224 with one home run — which was an inside-the-park homer — and 11 RBIs in 31 games.

He was selected by Texas with the No. 4 pick in last year’s draft out of the University of Florida. He broke camp with the Rangers after hitting .365 with six homers in 21 games during spring training.

Eovaldi, the Rangers’ Opening Day starter this season, exited with the groin injury in the sixth inning against the Washington Nationals on Thursday and had an MRI on Friday.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
