Toss: Sri Lanka opt to bowl vs Pakistan

Sri Lanka won the toss for the third time in the Super Fours, and opted to bowl, having won their three last matches chasing. Dubai has also strongly favoured chasing sides over the past two years, with dew also potentially complicating the task of the side bowling second.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam said he would have chased as well, and made two changes to his XI, resting key bowlers. Legspinner Shadab Khan, and fast bowler Naseem Shah take a breather, with Hasan Ali and legspinner Usman Qadir coming in.

Sri Lanka also made two changes, but this was to swap out two underperforming players. Dhananjaya de Silva came into the XI in place of Charith Asalanka, who had not made it into double figures in four innings this tournament. And in place of Asitha Fernando, who had been expensive in the last two matches, Sri Lanka handed a debut to right-arm seamer Pramod Madushan.

This match has little bearing on the tournament. Both sides have made it into the final, and will meet again for the title match on Sunday.
