Kyle Anderson has agreed to a two-year, $18 million deal to join the Minnesota Timberwolves, his agents Thad Foucher and Joe Smith of Wasserman Basketball told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Anderson gives a Minnesota team lacking wing depth a strong rotation player as the team looks to build on its playoff appearance last season. A 6-foot-9 ball handler, Anderson slots in well next to All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns with his playmaking and shot-blocking ability.
A key figure in the Memphis Grizzlies’ vaunted depth chart the past few seasons, Anderson hit the open market for the first time since he left the San Antonio Spurs in 2018.
Anderson, 28, took a slight step back after his career year in 2020-21, averaging 7.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game this past season on a very deep Grizzlies team. However, “Slo Mo” stayed true to his moniker, making highlight-reel plays while moving at half speed.
While an inconsistent 3-point shooter, Anderson is an adept passer to go along with stout defense on the wing. A former late first-round pick out of UCLA, Anderson is heading into his ninth season in the NBA.
