Popovich out two games after medical procedure

NBA

SAN ANTONIO — Spurs coach Gregg Popovich will miss the next two games after undergoing a minor medical procedure on Friday, according to the team.

Popovich is expected to return to the bench for Thursday’s home game against the Houston Rockets. He will not coach in home games against the New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns.

Popovich held his regular pregame media availability on Friday, but he stood instead of sitting as usual.

The Spurs, who committed to a rebuild by trading All-Star guard Dejounte Murray over the summer, went 1-14 in November and lost their past nine games of the month.

Popovich, 73, is the NBA’s all-time winningest coach with 1,350 victories.
