OKC’s Williams has surgery for orbital fracture

NBA

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie forward Jalen Williams underwent surgery to address a right orbital bone fracture, the team announced.

Williams, the No. 12 overall pick in the draft, will be reevaluated in 7-10 days.

Williams suffered the injury during the Thunder’s season-opening loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was inadvertently elbowed by Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels while Williams contested a shot in the paint.

Williams scored five points in six minutes off the bench during his NBA debut before exiting because of the injury.
