Lakers’ Schroder out 3-4 weeks; Westbrook iffy

NBA

The Los Angeles Lakers expect to be without Dennis Schroder for 3-4 weeks after the veteran guard had a procedure Monday to repair a ligament injury in his thumb, coach Darvin Ham said.

The news comes on the eve of the regular season. The Lakers visit the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.

Schroder signed a one-year, $2.64 million contract with the Lakers this offseason after spending the 2020-21 season with the team.

Also Monday, Ham told reporters that Russell Westbrook (hamstring) remains day-to-day after straining his left hamstring in a preseason loss to the Sacramento Kings on Friday. His status is undetermined for Tuesday’s opener in San Francisco.

Information from ESPN’s Dave McMenamin was used in this report.
