Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams announced on Monday that he is entering the transfer portal, but that the Sooners remain an option for the former highly touted recruit.
Williams took over for Spencer Rattler this season, and though Oklahoma did not compete in the Big 12 championship game, the Sooners ended their season with a win over Oregon in the Alamo Bowl, less than a month after coach Lincoln Riley left the program for USC.
Williams announced his decision on Twitter, and a statement from Sooners athletic director Joe Castiglione and new coach Brent Venables soon followed on Oklahoma’s official football feed.
Against the Ducks, Williams passed for three touchdowns and the Sooners posted a dominant 47-32 win with interim coach Bob Stoops on the sidelines.
Oklahoma raced out to a 30-3 lead as Williams sliced up the Oregon defense en route to capping an 11-2, yet topsy-turvy season for the Sooners.
