The G League Ignite have offered head coach Brian Shaw a contract extension that he is expected to sign soon, a source told ESPN’s The Undefeated.
Shaw coached the Ignite to an 8-7 record this year in their inaugural season, held at the NBA G League bubble in Florida.
The Ignite had a mixture of elite high school graduates and veterans on their roster. Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga are two potential top-five 2021 NBA draft prospects who played for the Ignite.
Shaw, a five-time NBA champion, has nearly 30 years of experience as an NBA player and coach. He served as head coach of the Denver Nuggets from 2013 to ’15.
The Ignite are not affiliated with any existing G League franchise or NBA team.
