Nets’ Irving ruled out after taking elbow to face

NBA

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving was ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls with a facial contusion, the team announced.

During the third quarter, Irving collided with Bulls center Nikola Vucevic while going up for a rebound. Irving was hit in the face by Vucevic’s elbow.

Irving was on the ground for several minutes — pulling his jersey up over his eyes — before being helped to a seated position. He then walked off the court without any assistance and headed back to the locker room.

He is undergoing testing for a possible concussion, sources told ESPN.

Irving scored 13 points in 21 minutes. He was 4-of-10 from the field and had three rebounds and five assists.
