Pacers forward Warren won’t return this season

NBA

Indiana Pacers forward T.J. Warren will not return this season as he continues to recover from a stress fracture in his left foot, the team announced Thursday.

Warren, 27, played just four games this season before suffering the injury. He underwent surgery on Jan. 5.

Warren has emerged as one of the East’s better small forwards since arriving from the Phoenix Suns in a draft-day trade in 2019.

He led Indiana in scoring last season with 19.8 points per game and was explosive in the Orlando restart, authoring a 53-point performance on his way to averaging nearly 27 points in the bubble.

Warren had season-ending surgery for a stress fracture in 2016 while with the Suns, and he returned for the start of the following season in strong form. He’s under contract with the Pacers through one more season.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski contributed to this report.
