Bulls’ Satoransky, staff member test positive

Chicago Bulls guard Tomas Satoransky and a team support-staff member have tested positive for COVID-19, according to coach Billy Donovan.

“He’s obviously got to quarantine and he’s going through the league protocols with that,” Donovan said ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Dallas Mavericks. “We had another support-staff person test positive, but the guys that were out on that road trip are still out, they’re not available tonight, so we’ve pretty much have the same group that we had on those three road games — well, the last two games against Washington and Milwaukee.”

Bulls forward Chandler Hutchison also tested positive for the coronavirus and has remained in Washington since the Bulls beat the Wizards on Thursday.

Lauri Markkanen and Ryan Arcidiacono also remain out while under the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

“That’s gonna be the biggest thing as we go forward here is what happens with some of these guys that are unavailable and in the safety protocol,” Donovan said. “What happens when they get lifted and when they have clearance and those kind of things.”

Satoransky’s positive test adds to the list of COVID-19 incidents within the organization. He previously missed time in December because of the mandated nine-day quarantine for having close contact with former Bulls forward Noah Vonleh, who tested positive during the preseason.

Guard Garrett Temple also tested positive in November, in addition to four members of the Bulls coaching staff who missed the game against the Indiana Pacers on Dec. 26 but returned for the following game against the Golden State Warriors.
