Clippers’ Morris (knee) to miss opener vs. Lakers

NBA

LA Clippers forward Marcus Morris is listed as out for Tuesday’s season opener against the Lakers because of right knee soreness.

Morris did not play in any of the Clippers’ three preseason games this month, and coach Ty Lue had previously seemed pessimistic about Morris’ chances to be ready for the regular-season opener.

Nicolas Batum replaced Morris in the starting lineup in each of the Clippers’ preseason games. LA signed Batum earlier this month after he was waived by the Charlotte Hornets.

Morris, 31, returned to the Clippers last month on a four-year, $64 million deal. After playing in 19 regular-season games and 13 playoff games with LA last season, re-signing Morris was the Clippers’ top priority in free agency.
