Haskins to start at QB after WFT rules out Smith

NFL

Dwayne Haskins will start at quarterback for the Washington Football Team against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday after Alex Smith was ruled out with a calf injury.

Smith missed the second half of last Sunday’s 23-15 victory against the San Francisco 49ers because of soreness in his surgically repaired right leg.

Haskins, who was benched after starting the first four games of the season, replaced Smith in the second half Sunday. He completed 7 of 12 passes for 51 yards, saying he was “grateful to get out on that grass again” after losing his spot in October.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
