Giants OC Garrett positive; Kitchens to call plays

NFL

New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has tested positive for the coronavirus and will not call plays for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Giants announced in a statement Thursday that Garrett “will continue to work remotely,” but that tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens will call plays on offense Sunday.

Kitchens was the Browns’ head coach last season.

The Giants will not practice Thursday, citing “an abundance of caution,” but said, “there appear to be no high risk close contacts. We are awaiting confirmation from the league.”
