Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is unlikely to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, coach Matt Rhule said.
“At this point, I don’t expect him to play,” Rhule told reporters Thursday.
McCaffrey was limited in practice Wednesday due to a quad injury, which he tweaked during the team’s bye last week. He has missed the past three games with a shoulder injury.
McCaffrey has played just three games this season. He missed six games with a high ankle sprain suffered in a Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and missed three more with the shoulder injury suffered in his return against the Kansas City Chiefs.
