The UFC has lost another planned fight due to the coronavirus.
One day after the promotion had two bouts drop off on fight day due to COVID, women’s strawweight fighter Angela Hill announced Sunday night on social media that she, too, had tested positive for the virus.
Hill was scheduled to fight Tecia Torres at UFC 256 this coming Saturday in Las Vegas, but will have to withdraw. The UFC has not said whether Torres will stay on the card.
“Tested positive for Covid and won’t be fighting next week,” Hill tweeted. “Tried to stay as safe as possible during fightcamp but with mma training there’s virtually no social distancing.”
Hill (12-9) is one of the most active fighters on the UFC roster. The San Diego resident has the most fights in UFC women’s strawweight history (16) and the shortest amount of time between six fights in UFC history (337 days). Hill, 35, has dropped two straight following a three-fight winning streak, but both were extremely close split decisions.
Torres beat Hill at UFC 188 in 2015.
“Was looking forward to running it back, maybe in the near future,” Hill tweeted.
