Justin Allgaier finished fifth in Friday night’s Xfinity Series race at Kentucky Speedway after he was cleared to race by NASCAR earlier in the day.
Allgaier went to the hospital for evaluation following a last-lap crash in Thursday night’s race at the track and said in a video he posted to Twitter shortly before Friday’s race that it was because doctors at the track weren’t happy with his heart rate and wanted to run some tests.

Tests revealed no underlying issues, leading him to be cleared for Friday’s race.
Winless in 15 starts this season, Allgaier sits seventh in the standings.
Allgaier’s race on Thursday went bad at the end when his JR Motorsports Chevrolet had contact with Ronnie Bassett Jr.‘s Chevy, with Bassett making hard contact with the inside wall that lifted his car off the ground. Allgaier twice made contact with the outside wall in the crash, which also involved Timmy Hill.
Bassett and Hill were checked and released from the infield care center, with Allgaier going to the hospital. JR Motorsports announced Friday that Allgaier’s trip to the hospital Thursday night wasn’t related to the crash, and Allgaier provided details in his video.
