England’s Tuilagi to miss Calcutta Cup with groin strain

England and Leicester Tigers centre Manu Tuilagi has been ruled out of his side’s second Six Nations match against Scotland on Saturday with a groin strain, head coach Eddie Jones has announced.

Tuilagi picked up the injury in England’s 24-17 defeat to France in Paris last weekend and will play no part in the Calcutta Cup match at Murrayfield on Saturday.

“He has got a slight low-grade adductor strain,” Jones said at a news conference on Tuesday. “But hopefully he will be fit for Ireland, which is very good news, outstanding news.”

The forward will remain with the squad and will likely be fit for his side’s test against Ireland on Feb. 23.

England remain without flanker Saracen’s Billy Vunipola, who broke his arm in a Champions Cup match against Racing 92 last month.
