Sources: Army expected to name Theodorakis AD

Army is expected to promote Tom Theodorakis to become the school’s new athletic director, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

Theodorakis is currently Army’s deputy athletics director, external operations and chief revenue officer. He’s set to replace his former boss, Mike Buddie, who took the athletic director job at TCU in late December.

Theodorakis’ background suits the modern athletic director job, as it is heavy in revenue generation. That includes leading all external units for Army.

He has been at Army since July 2022, and his familiarity with the academy proved an asset in his candidacy. He brings 16 years of total Division I experience, including external operations work at Harvard, Arizona and UCLA.

Army is coming off the school’s first 12-win football season in school history, which included an American Athletic Conference title in the program’s first year after going 8-0 in league play.

Theodorakis is a graduate of Syracuse, where he played lacrosse and was part of the 2004 national title team.
