NFL

PHILADELPHIA — Less than a week after leaving the Los Angeles Rams‘ wild-card playoff game with a chest injury because he was “spitting up a little bit of blood,” tight end Tyler Higbee found the end zone.

Higbee, who returned in Week 16 after tearing his ACL and MCL during the Rams’ loss to the Detroit Lions in the wild-card round of the 2023 NFC playoffs, caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford.

According to ESPN Research, Higbee has been targeted on 20 of 50 routes (40%) since returning from injury in Week 16 (through his first-quarter touchdown). The only qualified player over 33% this season was Puka Nacua (39.7%).

The catch was Higbee’s second of the game, giving him two catches for 13 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown gave the Rams a 7-6 lead.

Stafford now has 14 touchdown passes in the playoffs with the Rams, one shy of tying Kurt Warner for the most in franchise history.

Later in the quarter, the Rams moved the ball down the field quickly, as Stafford found wide receiver Demarcus Robinson for 48 yards. On second and 7, Stafford threw deep down the middle of the field for a leaping Robinson, who appeared to take the ball away from Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers.
