ACC fines 4 schools for postgame shenanigans

NCAAF

The ACC fined and publicly reprimanded North Carolina, NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech for their actions in their respective rivalry games last weekend.

NC State and North Carolina got into a postgame fight after the Wolfpack planted a flag on the UNC field following a 35-30 victory Saturday.

Virginia and Virginia Tech players got into a pregame fight before their game, a 37-17 Hokies victory. Each school was fined the maximum amount under league bylaws.

In a statement issued Monday, the ACC said the actions of all four schools violated the ACC sportsmanship policy.

“The unsportsmanlike behavior that was displayed is unacceptable and tarnishes the passionate on-field play between these institutions,” the ACC said in its statement.
