PSU’s Allar could be game-time call vs. Buckeyes

Penn State coach James Franklin said Monday that quarterback Drew Allar‘s status for fourth-ranked Ohio State could be a game-time decision.

Allar suffered a left knee injury late in the first half of Saturday’s 28-13 win at Wisconsin. Allar tried to play to begin the second half, but after warming up he told Franklin that he didn’t think he could be effective enough playing through the injury.

Sophomore backup Beau Pribula replaced Allar in the second half and completed 11 of 13 passes with a touchdown.

Franklin said that Allar and Pribula could both get snaps in Tuesday’s practice but that the team would wait until Saturday before making a starting quarterback decision.

“That timeline will go all the way up to the game,” Franklin said.

Allar ranks 10th nationally with a QBR of 83.6. He has completed 71.3% of his passes for 1,640 yards and totaled 15 touchdowns with four interceptions.

The third-ranked Nittany Lions (7-0) have lost seven straight games to the Buckeyes.
