Penn St.’s Allar doesn’t return after 1st-half injury

MADISON, Wisc. — Penn State quarterback Drew Allar left Saturday’s 28-13 win at Wisconsin with an injury and did not play in the second half.

Late in the second quarter, Allar walked gingerly to the sideline, favoring his left knee. Before the end of the half, he limped to the locker room with a Penn State trainer, at one point exchanging heated words with a Wisconsin fan standing on the sideline.

Allar came out of halftime with a brace on the knee and tried to play. But after a couple of warmup throws, he walked over to the Penn State coaches shaking his head.

The Nittany Lions turned to backup sophomore quarterback Beau Pribula, who entered the game with 31 career passing attempts.

Allar came into the weekend ranked sixth nationally with a QBR of 86.8. He was 14-of-18 for 148 yards and a touchdown in the first half against the Badgers. Pribula was 11-of-13 for 98 yards and a score and also rushed for 28 yards.

The No. 3 Nittany Lions (7-0) face fourth-ranked Ohio State next weekend at home.
