Brewers’ Frelick crashes into RF wall, set for MRI

MLB

MILWAUKEE — Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick left Friday night’s game with the New York Mets after he banged his left side into the right-field wall while trying to make a leaping catch of a foul ball.

Frelick was attempting to catch a drive from Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez that hit the sidewall in foul territory down the right field line in the third inning. The outfielder landed awkwardly and remained down for several minutes as Milwaukee’s medical staff went out to check on him.

He eventually walked slowly toward the dugout before being helped into the clubhouse. Garrett Mitchell replaced him in right field.

Frelick has become a regular in the Milwaukee lineup. He is batting .259 with a .320 on-base percentage, 2 homers, 32 RBIs and 18 steals in 145 games this season for the NL Central champion Brewers, who will open a wild-card playoff series Tuesday.
