Twins SS Correa activated, to return vs. Reds

MLB

The Minnesota Twins activated All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa from the 10-day injured list on Saturday.

Correa has missed 51 games since the All-Star break while dealing with right plantar fasciitis. He is expected to be in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds in Minneapolis.

Correa, who will turn 30 on Sept. 22, is batting .308 with 13 home runs, 47 RBIs and 51 runs in 75 games this season. He was named to his third All-Star Game this season but didn’t play in the contest due to the foot injury.

Correa is in his third season with the Twins after spending seven with the Houston Astros. He has a .275 career average with 186 homers and 665 RBIs in 1,098 games.

Also on Saturday, the Twins optioned outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul.

Keirsey, 27, went 1-for-10 while playing in four games for Minnesota since his major league debut Sept. 5.
