Phils put All-Star 3B Bohm (hand) on 10-day IL

MLB

The Philadelphia Phillies placed All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm on the 10-day injured list Friday because of a left hand strain.

The move, retroactive to Tuesday, came after Bohm missed six consecutive games since injuring the hand during an at-bat in a 5-4 victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves on Aug. 29.

In a corresponding move, the Phillies recalled infielder Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Bohm, 28, is tied for the major league lead with Boston’s Jarren Duran with 44 doubles going into Friday’s games. The Philadelphia franchise record for a third baseman is 45 by Scott Rolen in 1998.

A first-time All-Star this season, Bohm is batting .290 with 13 home runs, 89 RBIs, a .343 on-base percentage and a .462 slugging percentage in 131 games.

The Phillies selected Bohm third overall in the 2018 MLB draft. He is a career .279 hitter with 57 home runs, 125 doubles and 328 RBIs in 587 games for Philadelphia since 2020.

Kennedy, 25, was purchased by the Phillies from the Detroit Tigers on June 7. He played in six games this season for Detroit and was 2-for-10 with one home run and four RBIs. Kennedy hit .295 with 19 doubles, 10 homers and 32 RBIs in 63 games for Lehigh Valley.
