Sources: Harris, Pistons reach 2-year, $52M deal

NBA

Free agent forward Tobias Harris has agreed to a two-year, $52 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday.

Harris, who turns 32 on July 15, had been with the Philadelphia 76ers since the trade deadline in 2019, when he arrived in a deal with the LA Clippers. It was already the fourth time he had been traded midseason since he entered the league as 19th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

But Harris found a long-term home with the 76ers after the trade, inking a five-year, $180 million extension he just completed this season to become an unrestricted free agent.

This past year in Philadelphia, Harris averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 48.7% overall and 35.3% from 3-point range. He’s been a durable, reliable presence for the 76ers, playing in at least 70 games in four of the last five years.

Harris is one of only 15 players with at least 6,000 points, 2,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists over the past five seasons, due in part to his consistency and availability.

ESPN’s Tim Bontemps contributed to this report.
