D-backs’ Carroll to undergo MRI on ailing side

MLB

Arizona Diamondbacks star Corbin Carroll left the team’s 12-5 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday in Phoenix with discomfort in his left side.

Carroll departed in the seventh inning after making an awkward throw from center field.

The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year is scheduled for an MRI on Monday but said he was feeling better after the game. He will remain in Phoenix as the team travels to Washington ahead of a three-game series against the Nationals starting Tuesday.

“Went to throw and just felt a pull feeling, not super painful, very general,” Carroll said. “But all indications are leaning to the positive. I hope to be out there for the Washington series.”

Carroll has struggled at the plate this season, batting just .213 with two home runs and 41 runs scored.
