The Washington Nationals placed first baseman Joey Gallo on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a strained left hamstring.
The team recalled infielder Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester to replace the two-time All-Star on the 26-man roster.
Gallo, 30, is batting just .164 with five homers and 11 RBIs in 46 games in his first season with Washington. He is a career .195 hitter with 203 home runs and 437 RBIs in 909 games with five teams.
Lipscomb, who turns 24 on Friday, made his major league debut on March 30 and played in 33 games for the Nats earlier this season. He batted .252 with one homer, nine RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
