The Colorado Rockies promoted prized prospect Adael Amador from Double-A Hartford on Sunday and placed fellow infielder Brendan Rodgers on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
The move is retroactive to Saturday for Rodgers, who sustained the injury in Friday’s 8-5 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ranked by MLB.com as the Rockies’ No. 1 prospect, Amador has yet to play in Triple-A let alone the majors.
Amador, 21, is batting .194 with seven homers, 24 RBIs and 22 stolen bases in 46 games with the Yard Goats.
Rodgers, 27, is batting .275 with three homers and 22 RBIs in 59 games this season with Colorado. The former Gold Glove second baseman is a career .267 hitter with 35 homers and 165 RBIs in 376 games with the Rockies.
