Reds RHP Pagan back to IL with right lat strain

MLB

Cincinnati Reds right-hander Emilio Pagan went back on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right lat strain.

The 33-year-old reliever was activated from the IL on Thursday. He had been out with right triceps tightness.

Pitching for the first time since May 19, Pagan allowed a run on two hits in the sixth inning of Saturday’s 4-3 win against the Chicago Cubs.

Pagan is 2-3 with a 4.43 ERA in 22 relief appearances this season, his first with Cincinnati. He is 24-21 with a 3.75 ERA and 32 saves in 391 career games (one start) with six teams since 2017.

The Reds recalled right-hander Carson Spiers from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding transaction. He has no decisions and a 3.29 ERA in four bullpen appearances this season for Cincinnati.
