CHICAGO — The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated right-handed reliever Chad Green from the 15-day injured list before Tuesday’s game in Chicago against the White Sox and optioned righty Erik Swanson to Triple-A Buffalo.

The 33-year-old Green had been out since April 15 with a strain of the right teres major, a muscle in the upper arm near the shoulder. He’s 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA and two saves in seven games this season.

In his second season with Toronto and ninth in the majors, Green is 37-22 with a 3.21 ERA for his career. He pitched his first seven years with the Yankees and was 10-7 with a 3.12 ERA in 2021 for New York.

Swanson is 1-2 with a 9.22 ERA in 17 games for Toronto this season after going 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA in 69 games last season. He gave up a solo shot to Gavin Sheets in the eighth inning of the Blue Jays 5-1 win on Monday for Chicago’s only run.
