Seeking rebound, WR Robinson signs with Giants

NFL

The New York Giants have signed wide receiver Allen Robinson II, the team announced Thursday.

Robinson joins the Giants after one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who released him March 8 in a cost-cutting move.

Robinson, 30, wasn’t particularly productive in an overall stagnant offense in Pittsburgh, recording 280 receiving yards on 34 catches, his lowest output outside of an injury-shortened 2017 season. He also averaged a career-low 8.2 yards per reception.

Robinson joins a Giants offense that ranked 31st in passing yards per game last season and had no wide receiver total more than 770 yards or four touchdowns.

Pittsburgh had acquired Robinson in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in April 2023. Before his lone season in Los Angeles, Robinson spent four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, making the Pro Bowl in 2015, and then another four with the Chicago Bears.

Drafted by the Jaguars in the second round in 2014, Robinson has 562 catches for 7,028 yards and 43 touchdowns in his career.

ESPN’s Brooke Pryor contributed to this report.
