Rays’ Lowe to injured list due to oblique injury

The Tampa Bay Rays placed second baseman Brandon Lowe on the 10-day injured list Friday.

Lowe, 29, is dealing with a right oblique strain and the move is retroactive to Tuesday.

Through eight games, Lowe is batting .185 (5-for-27) with one homer, one double and four RBIs.

The former All-Star is a career .244 hitter with 106 homers and 309 RBIs in 512 games with the Rays since 2018.

Tampa Bay recalled infielder/outfielder Niko Goodrum from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding transaction.

Goodrum, 32, last played in the majors in 2022 with the Houston Astros. He’s hitting .316 with three homers and 12 RBIs in nine games for Durham.

In the majors, Goodrum has a .226 average with 42 homers and 152 RBIs in 402 games with the Minnesota Twins (2017), Detroit Tigers (2018-21) and Astros.
