Karl-Anthony Towns has been cleared for full-contact, 5-on-5 basketball activities and is progressing toward his return to play, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday.
Towns underwent surgery for a meniscus tear in his left knee four weeks ago. He last played on March 4.
He has already been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Washington Wizards. Minnesota next plays the Nuggets in Denver on Wednesday in a game that could decide the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
Before going down, Towns was having a resurgent season, averaging 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds on 50.6% shooting from the field and 42.3% from 3-point range.
The Wolves are 11-5 since Towns’ injury.
