Source: TE Ertz reaches deal with Commanders

NFL

Veteran tight end Zach Ertz has agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders, a source told ESPN.

The move reunites Ertz with Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, his former head coach with the Arizona Cardinals.

Ertz, 33, fills a need for the Commanders, who released tight end Logan Thomas last week.

Ertz signed with the Detroit Lions‘ practice squad before the NFC Championship Game but was not elevated to the active roster for that game.

In November, he was released by the Cardinals, who acquired him in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in October 2021.

A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Ertz has 709 catches for 7,434 yards and 46 touchdowns in 11 seasons.

NFL Network was first to report the news of Ertz’s deal with Washington.
