The Philadelphia Eagles have been chosen as one of the teams to play in the NFL’s first game in Brazil to kick off the 2024 season, the league announced on Monday.
The Eagles will play on Friday, Sept. 6 at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo. Their opponent and kickoff time will be announced at a later date, said the league, which revealed in December in would make the foray into Brazil.
This will also mark the first time the NFL has played a game on Friday night of its opening weekend in more than 50 years.
“This landmark first international game in South America demonstrates the ongoing expansion of our global footprint,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. “Playing on Friday night of Week 1 is a unique way to highlight our international growth and ambitions.”
Corinthians Arena is home to Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, and was an official venue for both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.

Five regular season games will be played as part of the 2024 NFL International Games, including the game in Brazil, with the designated teams for the Europe slate already announced.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London will host games featuring both tThe Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings will both play in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London while the Jacksonville Jaguars will return to Wembley Stadium. The Carolina Panthers are set to play in Allianz Arena in Munich.
With the game in South America, the NFL will have played a game (preseason or regular season) in five of the seven continents around the world.
