Giants to start DeVito with Lock (heel) in boot

NFL

New York Giants coach Brian Daboll on Wednesday said quarterback Drew Lock is in a walking boot due to a heel injury and Tommy DeVito now is expected to start against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Lock played in last week’s loss to the New Orleans Saints, going 21 of 49 for 227 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. It was his second start in a row, with DeVito, who had started vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 24, recovering from a forearm contusion.

DeVito was named the starter when the Giants benched Daniel Jones, went 21-of-31 passing for 189 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the loss to the Bucs — his only start after being named the starter.

The second-year quarterback has made seven starts overall for the Giants. In six starts last season, he threw for 1,101 yards, 8 touchdowns and had 3 interception while completing 64% of his passes.
