Four-star athlete Michael Terry III, the 30th-ranked prospect in the 2025 ESPN 300, announced his commitment to Texas when the early signing period opened Wednesday morning, picking the Longhorns over Nebraska and Oregon in a ceremony at Texas’ Alamo Heights High School.
Terry is ESPN’s No. 3 athlete prospect in the 2025 cycle and began Wednesday as the nation’s third-ranked uncommitted recruit.
A versatile, two-way star from San Antonio, Terry visited Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and Nebraska in the summer before taking return trips to the Longhorns and Huskers earlier this fall. Upon Terry’s pledge, Texas now holds commitments from 17 ESPN 300 prospects in the 2025 cycle, including eight of ESPN’s top-100 recruits.
Terry began his senior season this fall with more than 3,000 career all-purpose yards as Texas’ reigning District 13-5A MVP. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, he projects as a do-it-all offensive weapon at the next level, capable of playing running back, wide receiver or tight end in a given package.
Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian pitched Terry and his family on an expansive role in Texas’ offense, and Terry lands with the Longhorns among an impressive collection of skill talent headed to Austin around four-star quarterback pledge K.J. Lacey (No. 117 in the ESPN 300) in 2025.
Along with Terry, Texas holds pledges from top-30 wide receivers Jaime Ffrench (No. 25 in the ESPN 300) and Kaliq Lockett (No. 29), as well as four-star pass catcher Daylan McCutcheon (No. 147), who flipped to the Longhorns from Florida State on Oct. 10.
Led by five-star athlete Jonah Williams (No. 8 in the ESPN 300) — expected to play safety in college — Texas’ fifth-ranked recruiting class is anchored by commitments from eight top-300 prospects, more than any program other than Auburn (11) in 2025.
