OU commit Sperry, 4-star QB, flips to Florida St.

Four-star Oklahoma quarterback pledge Kevin Sperry, ESPN’s No. 132 overall prospect in the 2025 class, flipped his commitment to Florida State on Thursday night.

Sperry, ESPN’s No. 11 pocket passer in the current cycle, was the longest-tenured member of Brent Venables’ incoming class before his decommitment on Thursday. He now joins Florida State’s 2025 class four days after the Seminoles lost the commitment of four-star quarterback Tramell Jones, who committed to Florida on Nov. 17.

Sperry began his high school career at Texas’ Rock Hill High School before transferring to Oklahoma’s Carl Albert for the 2023 season shortly after committing to Oklahoma. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound passer returned to Texas this fall, spending his senior season at Texas’ Guyer High School, and stood as the fourth-ranked member of the Sooners’ 2025 class before his flip.

Sperry’s commitment to Florida State marks a late-cycle recruiting win for Mike Norvell and the Seminoles. Florida State has lost seven pledges from its 2025 class since the start of the regular season amid its 1-9 start this fall, including six commitments from inside the ESPN 300. Sperry’s pledge also comes 11 days after the Seminoles parted ways with three assistant coaches, including offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Alex Atkins.

With Sperry’s pledge, Florida State now holds six ESPN 300 pledges in a class that came in at No. 40 in ESPN’s latest team rankings for the 2025 cycle, while Oklahoma enters the final weeks before the early signing period without a quarterback pledge in the 2025 class.
