Garcia will take on Anpo in a Dec. 30 exhibition

Boxing star Ryan Garcia will compete in a boxing exhibition Dec. 30 in Tokyo vs. Rukiya Anpo, it was announced.

The exhibition will be contested at 153 pounds over eight two-minute rounds.

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) remains under suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission and unable to fight in a sanctioned bout until April after he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug ahead of his fight with Devin Haney in April.

Garcia, 26, floored Haney three times en route to an upset majority decision victory that was later overturned to a no contest.

Garcia was in Tokyo in July for Anpo’s exhibition with Manny Pacquiao, setting the stage for his ring return, albeit for an unsanctioned bout.

“I’m looking forward to knocking Anpo out for trying to knock out the legend Manny Pacquiao,” Garcia said. “Manny is past his prime, and for him to try to knock him out rubbed me the wrong way. I will knock him out and teach him a lesson of respect.”

Japan’s Anpo (27-8-1, 14 KOs) is a former kickboxing champion who is 29 years old.
