Florida quarterback DJ Lagway, who missed last week’s game against Texas with a leg injury, is expected to start Saturday against LSU, head coach Billy Napier announced on his radio show Thursday.

Lagway, who had been listed as questionable, was not on the injury report Thursday.

Walk-on and Yale transfer Aidan Warner got the start in Lagway’s place against the Longhorns. He threw two interceptions and was 12-of-25 for 132 yards in a 49-17 loss.

Lagway, a highly touted freshman, was carted off the field with a strained left hamstring against Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 2. He returned to the sideline in the second half with his leg wrapped and using crutches.

Tests revealed his injury was “less significant” than initially feared.

Napier said Wednesday that Lagway was progressing well in practice this week. In eight games this season, Lagway has thrown for 1,071 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions and has rushed for 114 yards.

The Gators (4-5, 2-4 SEC) need to win two of their final three games to become bowl eligible.
