Jaguars’ Lawrence unlikely to play vs. Vikings

NFL

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is unlikely to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings due to his shoulder injury, coach Doug Pederson told reporters Friday.

Mac Jones would get the start against the Vikings if Lawrence does not play. It would be the first start in nearly a year for the former New England Patriots quarterback.

Lawrence took a hit to his non-throwing shoulder while scrambling in the second quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Instead of sliding, Lawrence went headfirst and got hammered by linebacker Zack Baun.

The Jaguars brought back veteran C.J. Beathard earlier in the week when they signed him off the Miami Dolphins practice squad.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
