Source: 49ers’ Samuel expected to play vs. Pats

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to play Sunday against the New England Patriots, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Samuel missed last weekend’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams with a calf injury.

Samuel was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday after not practicing Wednesday. He’s officially listed as questionable to play against the Pats.

“I came back feeling pretty good and we went to practice the past two days and still feeling good,” Samuel said Friday. “So, we’ll just see how it goes.”

His calf injury occurred late in a Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, leaving 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan to suggest Samuel would sit out “a couple of weeks.” But Shanahan was pleased with his progress this week, which gave Samuel the chance to play against the Patriots.

“I think I’m right where I’m supposed to be with the information that I was given and the timeframe fit up pretty well,” Samuel said Friday.

The 49ers will also be getting tight end George Kittle (hamstring) back, but left tackle Trent Williams is listed as questionable with a sore toe.
