Cat Ferguson, Felix Barrow and Fran Brown each claimed global titles as Great Britain won nine medals on day four at the UCI Road and Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Zurich.

Ferguson, 18, triumphed in the women’s junior individual time trial (ITT) in 23 minutes 49.72 seconds, beating Slovakia’s Viktoria Chladonova to gold by 34.30 secs, as Briton Imogen Wolff took bronze.

Barrow clocked 16:28.66 to win the men’s T2 individual time trial gold by 34.84 secs, ahead of Belgium’s Tim Celen.

And Brown, silver medallist at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, retained her women’s C1 ITT world title in 29:27.93, leading a British one-two 4:09.42 ahead of team-mate Katie Toft, while in the C2 event Daphne Schrager won silver and Amelia Cass took bronze.

Paralympic champion Finn Graham was a silver medallist in the men’s C3 ITT, finishing 2.11 behind French champion Florian Bouziani, as Ben Watson narrowly missed out on the podium in fourth,

Meanwhile, Matthew Robertson clinched bronze in the C2 category.

Callum Russell was fourth in the men’s H4 ITT as he made his World Championship debut.

Rising star Ferguson had to settle for world road race silver in Glasgow in 2023 and signed for racing team Movistar later that year.

After winning her first rainbow jersey, she told Eurosport: “It’s incredible. The disappointment I’ve had before makes this jersey even more special.”

There are 55 British athletes taking part in the first combined UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships from 21-29 September, with most races being shown on the BBC Sport website and app.
