Giants WR Malik Nabers makes pair of spectacular catches on TD drive

NFL

CLEVELAND — New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers‘ second career touchdown came courtesy of a spectacular leaping, twisting grab with 1:44 remaining in the second quarter against the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field.

The 3-yard touchdown gave New York a 14-7 lead late in the first half.

Nabers was running across the back left of the end zone when he leaped to make the grab. He did it all while twisting his body and getting his right foot down while his body fell out of the end zone. After a brief review, it was confirmed that his second foot got down before his hand.

It was the second highlight grab from Nabers on the drive. He made a leaping grab over the head of cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. just four plays earlier. That catch went for 28 yards and saw Nabers rip the ball away from Emerson right on the left sideline.

The No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft added a second touchdown grab with 11 seconds remaining in the first half. This one came with Nabers, lined up to the left, dragging across the back of the end zone for the 5-yard score, giving the Giants a 21-7 lead heading into the half.

The rookie wide receiver had six catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.
