Team USA eyes Olympic gold in Paris against Wemby and France

NBA

Team USA goes for a fifth straight Olympic gold medal in men’s basketball as it plays France in the final of the 2024 Games in Paris.

Saturday’s game at Accor Arena will pit Team USA’s stars — including LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant — against a host side featuring NBA duo Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert. It’s also the fourth time United States and France are meeting in the men’s basketball gold medal game (1948, 2000 and 2020), all of which were won by Team USA.

Team USA has not lost at this tournament yet but had to overcome a 17-point deficit to overtake Serbia in Thursday’s semifinals, with Curry scoring a game-high 36 points.

France booked its spot in the final by holding off Germany in the semifinals, avenging a group phase loss to its European rival.

Will the U.S. continue its gold medal dominance, or will France pull the upset behind Wembanyama? Follow along with the latest updates and analysis.
