The Tampa Bay Rays activated right-hander Drew Rasmussen from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
Rasmussen, 29, who has not pitched in the majors since May 2023, will join the Tampa Bay bullpen. He is returning from his third major elbow surgery in seven years.
He went 0-2 with an 8.59 ERA in five games (two starts) on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham.
Rasmussen was 4-2 with a 2.62 ERA in eight starts last season for Tampa Bay before being shut down.
He is 20-10 with a 2.97 ERA in 83 games (46 starts) with the Milwaukee Brewers (2020-21) and Rays.
Tampa Bay optioned right-hander Joel Kuhnel to Durham to make room for Rasmussen on the active roster.
