The Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday placed All-Star pitcher Ranger Suarez on the 15-day injured list with lower back soreness.
Suarez, 28, earned his first All-Star appearance amid what has so far been a career season. The lefty is 10-5 with a 2.87 ERA over 20 starts for the National League East-leading Phillies.
Recent appearances have been shakier for Suarez, who has a 7.71 ERA over his last four outings. He has lost his last three starts.
Over seven seasons with the Phillies, Suarez is 39-26 with a 3.30 ERA in 154 appearances (86 starts).
He will be replaced on the active roster by fellow lefty Kolby Allard, recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Allard’s last appearance in the majors was with the Atlanta Braves in 2023. Over four appearances, he held a 6.57 ERA while striking out 13 over 12 1/3 innings.
The 26-year-old is 9-24 over six major league seasons with a 6.10 ERA.
