Jack Draper reached his first-ever grass-court final on Saturday after defeating Brandon Nakashima in straight sets at the Stuttgart Open.
Draper, 22, controlled the match from the outset, not allowing a single break point on his serve while winning the American’s service games on three occasions in the 6-3, 6-3 win.
He now faces two-time Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berrettini in the final Sunday.
“It’s an amazing feeling, Brandon is an incredible player and it is just so good to play that level of tennis out here,” Draper said after his win.
He is guaranteed to overtake Cameron Norrie in the ATP rankings and will become the British No. 1 with the victory.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to be, so it is a real honour to be in that position and hopefully I can carry the flag forward,” Draper said.
